I prefer his first book on reading to this one because he selects books more carefully and it represents his personal taste. But this book still has his thoughtful inner voice and did not lose frankness. Presumably I will read his third book that takes a journey into his personal reading habit. Especially, I love when he talks about his frustration with reading less books during soccer season. He doesn’t bother to read more for the magazine. Sometimes personal matter comes first. That’s life. I want him to talk more about how he manages to write a novel while dealing with obligation to read for the column.
I have a bookshelf over my bed, which is where I put the Books Bought and others that I have a serious intention of reading one day. And inevitably, over time, some of these are pronounced dead, and taken gently and respectfully downstairs either to the living room shelves, if they are hardbacks, or the paperback bookcase immediately outside the bedroom door, where they are allowed to rest in peace. I’m sure you all knew this, but in fact books never die – it’s just that I am clearly not very good at finding a pulse.
